The Ercall and New Works (Telford, Shropshire) 7.5-mile walk

Overview

On leaving the car park, we begin the climb through Ercall Wood to the summit of The Ercall, with good views across to its big sister, The Wrekin. On descending, we follow The Shropshire Way to explore this important geological site before passing the reservoir and taking one of the lesser walked paths across the foothill of The Wrekin. We then continue to Smalley Hill Nature Reserve in the village of New Works, an area of grasslands and ponds and once an important mining settlement in the 18th century. Our return takes us through Limekiln Wood.
