Walking with Poles

Charlton Athletic Community Trust

Overview

Greenwich Get Walking is a healthy walks scheme run by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), alongside the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in partnership with Ramblers. Our walks are free, fun and friendly - a perfect way to meet new people and get more active. Walking with Poles supports and engages muscles for a full body workout and a load of health benefits, including: - Focussing on good posture, good breathing and using your arms. - Using more muscles like chest, arms, shoulders and core, as well as legs. - Poles propel you forward, making you walk faster which boosts energy and raises heart rate. - Raising your heart rate helps circulation which lowers blood pressure, and improves breathing which benefits lungs. - Supportive poles protect your joints. This walk lasts around an hour and explores Charlton Park.
