A 4.5 mile walk to the iconic Golden Cap. This walk is further along the Dorset Coast from our base in Purbeck BUT well worth the Drive as its the highest point of the Jurassic Coastat 191 metres and is a distinctive yellow sandstoneIts an iconic Dorset trail to tick off your list!!From Sea Hill a 10 min road walk takes us to a series of bridleways which are moderately steep. (Muddy after rain)We will reach Langdon Woods NT carpark having had views over Chideock as we climb.Crossing the carpark we circle through beautiful woods of Scots pine and Larch. There are views to Morcombelake and Lyme Regis. The paths here are wide and flat.As we exit the woods the path goes steeply downhill briefly before a short steep climb up steps to the top. The steps are very deep. The views are stunning back to Seatown and extend across to Portland. The top of Golden Cap is large and flat. There will be time to take photos, have a drink and snacks. The views from the other side are as far as Devon on a clear day.
