Ashford in the Water and Magpie Mine Guided Walk
Special Event No freedom passport needed to book on.
Join us on this walk where we head along the River Wye and start to climb up along narrow paths with sweeping views amongst the woods (It's quite steep to the right of us as we walk along here.)
We then walk up the length of Deep Dale, join the road then cross fields to the remains of Magpie Mine. It was the last working lead mine in the Derbyshire orefield and is probably the best surviving example anywhere in the UK of a 19th century lead mine.
After the mine we'll make our way through farmland above woodland before dropping down to river Wye once more and head back to the start. There is 1 ascent at at 2km and the main ascent is between 3km and 5km along Deep Dale, the path along the River is Limestone and can be slippy when wet, field paths and roads make up the rest of the route.
11km and 260m Height Gain Gears 1 and 2
There's no need to worry about navigation, allowing you to take time to soak in the stunning views and enjoy great company.
Led by an experienced Nordic Walking Instructor who is Outdoor First Aid Trained and will support you along the way.
Whilst we do understand that sometimes it is not possible to make a class, please be aware that we do operate a no refund policy if you give us less than 24 hours’ notice. To see the full policy click HERE
