This is a Falls Management Exercise Programme based on the nationally recognised FaME programme. Ideally suited to seniors / over 50 who have recently suffered a fall or are unsteady on their feet. This is a 24 week programme designed to improve mobility, stability and balance. The programme has been refunded by the Northfield NNS / Birmingham City Council. Applications are now open for the next programme - expected to commence in October.

Our combined Tai Chi and Qigong class starts with a gentle warm-up to calm the breathing and mind, and mobilise the body. Angela will guide you through the Tai Chi steps from the front of the hall, talking you through each of the movements. We will learn a new step or revisit and refine one each class, building on the previous movements to flow a sequence together. This walk is approximately 4.5/5 miles. There are two different options according to sign ups and the weather. Both options include a longish medium incline and possibly a couple of short steeper ramps. The walk is along country lanes, grass tracks, open countryside and wooded tracks. The walk leaves Hampsthwaite via the churchyard, and crosses fields before climbing up through Gormires Wood. The walk then descends via Swincliffe Lane and Hurst Lane before returning to Hampsthwaite. At about 3.3 miles, the walk takes around 90 minutes.
