Greenwich Get Walking is a healthy walks scheme run by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), alongside the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in partnership with Ramblers. Our walks are free, fun and friendly - a perfect way to meet new people and get more active. This is an gentle paced walk for an hour around Kidbrooke, guided by a walk leader. Otago is a muscle strengthening and balance retraining program developed and tested by the New Zealand falls prevention research group. The idea behind Otago is that muscle strength, balance, flexibility and reaction time can all be improved to reduce your risk of falling. The session will include use of chairs and ankle weights. First class free.
The OTAGO class is taught by a fully qualified OTAGO Instructor. The session includes a warm up, mobility exercises for our joints, strength work using either body weight or therabands (resistance bands) and balance exercises in stationary and walking (with the support of a chair back if needed).
