Greenwich Get Walking is a healthy walks scheme run by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), alongside the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in partnership with Ramblers. Our walks are free, fun and friendly - a perfect way to meet new people and get more active. This is an gentle paced walk for an hour around Kidbrooke, guided by a walk leader. Otago is a muscle strengthening and balance retraining program developed and tested by the New Zealand falls prevention research group. The idea behind Otago is that muscle strength, balance, flexibility and reaction time can all be improved to reduce your risk of falling. The session will include use of chairs and ankle weights. First class free.

For about an hour we will stride out, aiming to cover about 3 miles. This is an exercise session for those used to using their Nordic Walking Poles with the correct technique. Although you may feel your heart beating a bit faster and your breathing a bit deeper, there will be plenty of opportunity to chat with your fellow walkers and take note of the countryside we are walking through.
