There's still time to support #AccessibleOutdoors Month this July - Inclusive outdoor sport and physical activity.

What an amazing #AccessibleOutdoors Month for 2025 so far!
Alongside Every Body Moves' own content series, throughout July the disabled community, activity and facility providers, and sector partners, have all been using #AccessibleOutdoors to help highlight the incredible variety of inclusive ways disabled people are getting active outside. From adaptive climbing and ways to enjoy skate parks, to inclusive cycling sessions, inner city green spaces and beach adventures, the campaign is bringing powerful stories to life.
Why It Matters - Disabled people and access to outdoor activity
Outdoor activity in parks, green spaces, and woodlands is a clear preference for many disabled people. However, just 44% say they find it easy to access these spaces, compared to 78% of non-disabled people. This significant gap points to ongoing physical, psychological, and environmental barriers that prevent equal access to outdoor physical activity.
Improving access to green spaces is a top priority for many. 1 in 3 disabled people identified better access to outdoor places as a key action for government. That figure rises to 50% among disabled people living in rural areas, showing how location adds another layer of inequality when it comes to inclusive sport and outdoor activity.
Despite the challenges, motivation to be active is high. Around 76% of disabled people want to increase their physical activity levels. But when finances are tight, 44% say they would reduce spending on sport and exercise first. This shows the importance of affordable, accessible outdoor activities for disabled people across the UK.
