One Big Community: Strength Academy Wales – Our wonderful Club of the Month for June
Strength Academy Wales (SAW) have been recognised as our June Club of the Month. This award highlights SAW’s exceptional efforts in providing opportunities for disabled people to engage in physical activity through inclusive and adaptive weightlifting. SAW is revolutionising the sport by promoting fitness and wellbeing in addition to numberous positive health benefits.
Based out of a modern venue in Haverfordwest, the sessions attract participants from all over Pembrokeshire.
Simon Roach, Head Coach at SAW, expressed his delight: “Our members, staff and volunteers are delighted to receive this prestigious award. Personally, I am absolutely overjoyed. Years of hard yet rewarding work have gone into creating the diverse community we now see at SAW.”
Inclusion at the Heart
SAW emphasises inclusion as of paramount importance to what they do. The work SAW do for the people of Pembrokeshire demonstrates that there is a sport or activity for everyone.
Para athlete Lily Rice describes SAW as “one big fat community. We all hype each other up,” while Sheila Williams adds, “you are not on your own coming through these doors, you are always welcome.”
Having Fun While Staying Active
The core message from Every Body Moves is simple: get out there, find your thing and have fun. SAW embodies this philosophy with its unwavering support for participants.
Simon Roach explains his primary objective: “To support the community and those with different abilities who, for various health and social reasons, are not being recognised.”
