Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that uses punches and kicks to attack an opponent.
It might sound daunting, but the training doesn't need to be scary and you can take part and learn technique without taking any blows!
The sport can be a brilliant way to build flexibility and strength as well as hone footwork.
It is a sport that can be practiced by almost anyone and techniques can be adapted for a wide range of impairments.
Things you might need to get started
- Loose and comfortable clothing and some water is enough to start with
- As you get more advanced you will need a 'Dobok' which is the uniform worn by taekwondo practitioners.
- Some gloves and a headguard will also be needed if you want to spar.
