Most people, regardless of age, gender, ability or impairment, can take part in archery as a recreational activity or as a serious sport.
Archery is a highly accessible sport and para archery was one of the original Paralympic sports. Archery can help you build strength, coordination and focus and can also be a good way to meet new people with similar interests.
You can go as far as you like! From shooting socially at a club to competing in the Paralympic Games - all is incredibly beneficial!
Para archers who wish to compete internationally are classified depending on their disability to ensure people compete against others with a similar level of impairment.
Disabled archers may use assistive devices in their archery, including draw or release aids, mouth tabs, stools and wheelchairs, to level the playing field. Classified athletes may also compete with non-disabled athletes in target archery events using their assistive devices.
