iPaddle inclusive and adaptive paddling

Overview

iPaddle Sessions. We have been delivering inclusive and adaptive supported sessions now for a few years and are now in a great position to host free inclusive adaptive paddle sessions over the summer. We are opening up days to showcase what's available to organisations and individuals who would like to come and see what support there is to access paddling at Ellerton Lake. So drop us message, email or WhatsApp call and we can chat. We will have equipment out with coaches and staff happy to chat and have a taster session. If this works for you we can then look at regular free sessions bespoke to you. Paddleboarding should be available to as many as possible and this has always been at the core of what SUP Active Yorkshire are all about. It is a relatively accessible sport that can be enjoyed by all ages, and we are now expanding our offer to anyone that might require more adaptive equipment and support. You can try our paddle boards and sit on top Kayaks and Canoes at the lovely Ellerton Lake. We have fairly sheltered conditions and abundance of wildlife so a great way to get some exercise floating around and a good dose of vitamin Green.

Accessibility Information:

We have a disabled toilet that has room to change in if needed, there is also showers they are not wheelchair accessible but we do have some mobile ramps that give access to the shower room. We do keep dry most of the time but if you would like to enter the water, we have wetsuits and buoyancy aids available. Large gravel car park and a slipway down to the waters edge that can be accessed by wheelchairs. A Café 400m down the road that is wheelchair friendly. Only assistance dogs are allowed by the lake We have a range of options including bespoke SUP seats that can go on single boards with outrigger to keep you upright and stable, The seats are pretty familiar to wheelchair users as they are designed by Davinci mobility and are a comfortable supported seat on skids not wheels. The whole concept has been developed by our friend Ben at WhatSUPUK who developed this in conjunction with there Embrace board that is supported with outriggers. Other options that work with seats are Tandem, Large and XL Boards and also possible to take on sports wheelchairs strapped down on the XL board using one of our ramps from the slipway. We have other options such as bean bags and foam kneeling saddles and foam supported seats. Most people will have different requirements and support so drop us a message or give us a call and we can discuss what works for you. There are development options to help coach you how to paddle the boards effectively solo or as a team and even have a go at one of our off-site river and canal adventures.
