Happy Skateboarder - Club of the Month May 2025

Hold onto your helmets – because this month, the Every Body Moves powered by Toyota Club of the Month Award goes to the fantastic folks at Happy Skateboarder Skate School!

Based out of the Prevail Skate Park in Poole, and operating in the wider surrounding areas, these legends are flipping the script on what inclusive sport looks like. Turning their skate sessions into a place where everyone can feel welcome– no matter their ability, experience, or confidence level.

Richard Pugh, founder of Happy Skateboarder told us: "Getting this award and being recognised for our work for inclusive skateboarding means a great deal. Skateboarding may not be for everyone but we should be striving to make it accessible for whoever wants to give it a go. No matter what background or disability. Trying something new can open a whole new world of experiences and self achievement."

From adapting equipment to offering thoughtful instruction, the Happy Skateboarder crew is doing more than just teaching ollies – they’re building a community where everyone can roll together. Their approach to inclusive and adaptive skateboard lessons ensures that every body truly moves, from little learners to thrill-seeking adults.

And that’s exactly why they’ve landed this month’s top spot. Because creating a space where everyone gets to drop in – whether it’s your first time on a board or your hundredth – deserves some serious applause (and maybe a celebratory tic-tac or two).

As proud recipients of the ParalympicsGB Club of the Month Award, they’re proof that with a bit of creativity, care, and a whole lot of heart, skateboarding can be for absolutely everyone.
