Come along to our free Walk & Talk in Sheldon park and meet some new people whilst exercising. This activity is free to those aged 50 and over.
Falls are not an inevitable part of getting older and the good news is, falls can often be prevented. Steady and Strong classes for older adults have been developed by experts to increase your strength and balance, helping you to stay stronger for longer and able to keep doing the things you love. You will do a mix of seated and standing exercises, with chair support for those who need it.
This is a Falls Management Exercise Programme based on the nationally recognised FaME programme. Ideally suited to seniors / over 50 who have recently suffered a fall or are unsteady on their feet. This is a 24 week programme designed to improve mobility, stability and balance. The programme has been refunded by the Northfield NNS / Birmingham City Council. Applications are now open for the next programme - expected to commence in October.

Level 2: 2 - 2.5 miles, tracks and some hills or moderate pace. Intermediate walks, ideal for those looking to develop their walking fitness and able to complete 45-60 mins with minimal stops. Under 18’s may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Starting out from South Stainley, and passing by the new eco houses, this walk crosses fields to join Station Lane at Burton Leonard. It then returns via Jackson Wood to emerge by the church at South Stainley. At 3.5 miles, the walk takes around 90 minutes.
A 45 minute open gym session where the music is lowered. Parents are allowed to come and train with there newborn/children if they are in a car seat or pushchair.
