Every Body Moves Wins the Yoo Capital Award for Innovation at the Variety Disability Sport Awards 2024
The Every Body Moves team are excited to announce that we had the honour of winning the Yoo Capital Award for Innovation at the Variety Disability Sport Awards!
The award recognised our partnership with Toyota and Channel 4 this summer, to display a QR code on screen at various times each day during Channel 4's coverage of The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. This innovative approach directed viewers to our online inclusive activity finder, making it easier than ever for people to discover and participate in a variety of sports, physical activities and ways to move online and in their local area.
We're incredibly proud and grateful of the recognition, but this achievement is not ours alone.
Every Body Moves is a collaborative programme rooted in coproduction and the lived experience of disabled people. This award belongs to the incredible people who made that possible, and the clubs, providers, and organisations who list their inclusive activities on our platform. Your dedication and commitment in removing barriers to inclusive and accessible ways to move, have made it possible for countless individuals to experience the vast range of positive physical and mental health benefits that an active lifestyle and being part of a supportive community brings.
The awards also recognised Paralympian and Every Body Moves Lived experience Advisory Board (LAB) member, Stephen Miller, with the Glaukos Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. Honouring his incredible sporting career.
Fellow LAB member and blind athlete, Samantha Gough, was nominated in the ECB Award for Rising Star. Recognising Sam's incredible work for accessibility and inclusion both on and off the field of play.
Social impact forms an ever growing part of ParalympicsGB's vision to 'through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people'.
Every Body Moves is a cornerstone of the 10 year championing change strategy, as the organisation looks to deliver on its priorities of: Equitable access to sport, Championing disability inclusion, and, Transforming the understanding of disability.
The success of Every Body Moves during the Paralympic Games was a groundbreaking moment in this ongoing mission. By leveraging the power of media and technology, we were able to reach a wider audience and provide them with the tools to find accessible activities tailored to their needs. Further providing a platform for clubs, coaches, providers and organisations to list their activities. The QR code initiative was a simple yet powerful way to bridge the gap between viewers and inclusive opportunities, demonstrating the potential of innovative solutions in promoting accessibility.
A huge thank you to Toyota and Channel 4 for their invaluable partnership on this project. Your support and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Thanks also to the Variety Disability Sport Awards for recognising our combined efforts and continuing to shine a light on the importance of accessibility to inclusive ways to move.
As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we are inspired to continue our work with even greater determination. Thank you for your ongoing support, and here's to many more milestones in our journey towards inclusivity and innovation!
