Overview

12 week yoga course for anyone suffering from chronic low back pain. Simple gentle exercises to increase strength, flexibility and help you become more active. The sessions also include relaxation and breathing techniques. Participants receive the Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs book, a relaxation CD and handouts so they can practice at home in between weekly classes. Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs was developed in conjunction with Arthritis UK and proved to be effective when tested in a randomised controlled trial. Gentle yoga classes are recommended by NICE as a first line treatment for non-specific back pain.
The class number is kept small to ensure students receive the individual attention they need.

Equipment:

All yoga equipment is provided at the sessions, but participants should bring a blanket and pillow. They will need a yoga mat to practice at home.
