Is there a specific meeting point at the address:

The Unicorn Centre opened in 1998 as a purpose built horse riding centre for disabled people, we are a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association. Our aim is to provide a venue for disabled people to access horse riding as a sport, for therapy and for fun, where each participant is treated as an individual and with whom we work with to improve their health and wellbeing as well as providing access to the sport of horse riding. Our activities include, hippotherapy, riding therapy, riding lessons, RDA, British Dressage and Para-Dressage competitions. Our horses and staff are supported by 100 volunteers together with our successful Supported Volunteers programme for disabled people wanting to volunteer but needing a little help to do so. In 2020 our stable was joined by Blackberry, our Racewood Equine Simulator, a computerised mechanical horse, a very successful purchase funded by donations, which now allows us to offer sessions to participants from beginners to experts who want to use this digital format as a stepping stone to riding an actual horse or to improve their physical wellbeing or develop their riding skills. The Trustees, staff and volunteers enjoy working in partnership with local organisations and are willing to talk through new ideas that enhance the lives of people with disabilities. Come and talk to us you will always be made welcome.

Equipment:

No, we provide riding hats but participants will need to wear comfortable non slippy trousers/jodphurs, layers of clothing and shoes/boots with a standard walking heel - not fashion or trainer boots or shoes.

Accessibility Information:

The Unicorn Centre was purpose built for the use of people with disabilities so all areas for the use of participants are on one level with ramp access to both the indoor and out door arena's mounting platforms. The indoor arena also has a hoist which provides mounting access to horses and to the Racewood Equine Simulator.
