Overview
SHF is a grassroots multi-sports club for physical & mental health. Historically, it was co-founded in 2017 by (1) a project of WheelPower called Motivate East in Waltham Forest and (2) a solicitor who is also a parent carer of a child with disabilities.
We warmly welcome anyone from Greater London, with a disability or a mental health diagnosis together with parent/professional carers.
We are accredited by LB of Waltham Forest Council with the Feel Good quality mark accreditation and offer calm sports (snooker, badminton & polybat) and a supportive environment for siblings as well as (professional & parental) care givers.
Players are diverse, of all abilities and supported by two experienced disability coaches from Spurs Foundation, a SEND school teaching assistant & teenage peer coaches who have disabilities themselves and find much joy in supporting fresh beginners.
We meet for playing, listening, support & friendship on the first, third and fifth Fridays (4-6 pm) of each and every month at YMCA sports hall. Please check with SHF in advance, prior to coming, due to sudden, occasional challenges presented by the pandemic. This advance booking is essential.
