FREE - TASTER SESSION

Sports category:

Walking Activities & Sports

Overview

The session is a 45 minute taster session for people of all fitness abilities including people wanting to start getting active again. It's a free opportunity to try out Nordic Walking to help you understand just how beneficial Nordic Walking can be for your health and wellbeing.
Unlike trekking or rambling, Nordic Walking poles are planted behind you to help propel you along (you are taught how to do this!). This engages the upper body and makes you feel lighter on your feet, which has four major advantages.

1. You use 90% of your major muscles so your upper body gets toned as well as your legs and bottom.
2. You can burn 20 - 40% extra calories by using poles which may help with any weight loss goals.
3. It takes the pressure off your knees and joints and is great for back and neck problems.
4. You can get the most out of even a fairly short walk!

If you enjoy the taster and want to go on to learn all the full technique then you can sign up for a 4 session Learn to Nordic Walk course with a structured teaching programme to enable you to get fully competent and enable you to join in with group walks if you wish. It's a lot of fun too.

Please book through the website portal so that we can cater for everyone and ensure that we bring enough Nordic Walking poles. Big thank yous - Janet
