Overview
Conquest Centre is a leading Somerset charity dedicated to providing a range of horse-based activities for people with physical and learning disabilities (including emotional and behavioural challenges) and through this benefiting their health and well-being.
We also provide: a Café run by trainees with additional needs, offering them the opportunity to gain work and life skills; a Sensory Room which provides relaxation and improves sensory, co-ordination and language skills; an outdoor play/picnic area with resident chickens and goats; and regular competitions and events which are open to everyone enabling disabled and non-disabled people to socialise and compete together.

Attending the club:
Anyone is very welcome to come and see us at any time and we actively welcome any visitors who would like to come and meet us and our animals and to check out our facilities. Why not pop in for a cuppa in our café? Just be aware that our horses have days off on Sundays and Mondays so you won't see horse related activity sessions on those days.
Conquest Centre has lots of facilities that are free for everyone to use (although donations are always welcome), whether you are an existing service user or not. The only exception is the Sensory Room – if you are not an existing service user at Conquest Centre already, there is a small charge (£10 per hour). Please see our website for more information on our play park, small animals, forest school, yurt and Safia's Trail.
To book a Horse or specialist Thrive session please call the office to discuss your requirements so we book the most suitable solution for you.

When we meet:
6 days per week during academic term times.
Equipment:
No specialist equipment will be necessary but please dress for potentially muddy conditions and inclement weather if taking part in outdoor activities. We have riding hats to fit any size head and specialist equipment to aid mounting the horse if required.
Accessibility Information:
Conquest Centre is very accessibly located by road on the main A358 which connects Minehead and Exmoor with Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater and surrounding towns. There is a regular bus service and a bus stop very close to the main entrance.
Facilities: Conquest Centre is a fully equipped 20-acre equine centre with a herd of horses trained for our specialist work, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, a woodland riding trail, disabled riding carriages, a hoist and wheelchair accessible mounting block, and a wheelchair accessible toilet/wetroom.
We have recently installed a wheelchair swing and have professionally trained staff available to assist safe use.
Our services are delivered by qualified instructors with expertise in using horse-based activities to support people with disabilities and additional needs, as well as providing them with a really fun way to relax and enjoy some physical exercise in the beautiful Somerset countryside.
