Overview
Norwich Canoe Club is a British Canoeing Centre of Excellence for disabled canoeing. We are an inclusive racing canoe club for all abilities that trains in Norwich and competes across the UK. We have three specialist Paddle-Ability coaches who have additional skills for coaching those with disabilities or impairments. They are supported by many other coaches with experience of coaching paddlers with disabilities. Our lead for disabled paddling can advise on adaptive equipment or specialist clothing as he worked with Olympic para-canoeists in this area.
NCC have adapted K1s (kayak for one paddler) that are extremely stable, and an adapted K2s (kayak for two paddlers) that enables amputees to steer with a knee / foot system as well as extremely stable open-top Canadian canoes.
Our clubhouse has wheelchair ramps and lift access to changing and social facilities on the first floor above the boathouse.
If you want to race, you can. If you get really good there is even the chance to try out for the Paralympics. British Canoeing’s vision is to be the No 1 Olympic and Paralympic Canoeing Nation with quality and depth of excellence in all that we do. Why not start you Paralympic career at Norwich?
