Hampshire Healthy Families Ready Steady Walks are free, push-chair friendly, social walking groups for families with young children living in Hampshire. Ready Steady Walk is a good excuse to get out into the fresh air and give you the chance to meet local families in your community. Your local walking group will be led by a Barnardo’s volunteer, or your local community worker. The walking groups meet once a week at the same venue in your area, at the same day and time.
The group walks for 1.5 -2 hours including a refreshment stop at a cafe. This is a fun gentle walking group for all ages and abilities. Come along and make new friends from your local community, have fun and get active! Our hugely popular Parent & Toddler sessions give parents the chance to have fun with their young children in a safe and stimulating gymnastic environment. Sessions are suitable for children aged six-months to six-years-old who would rather be accompanied by a parent or guardian to our centre. A weekly walking group, offering individuals the chance to connect with others, take a stroll along our beautiful coastline enjoying fresh air and nature at Westgate, or take notice of the urban ecology and architecture in the town (depending on the weather!), all whilst taking part in some gentle physical activity. A relaxed group, using routes that are wheelchair and pushchair friendly. The fourth Monday of each month includes an informative themed talk, linked to the local area.

A lovely 4 mile walk from Compton, exploring the lovely countryside and taking in some impressive views across to Winchester.
The views on this walk are spectacular, you can see for miles over the rolling hills. On a clear day you will see Arundel Castle in the distance. The village of Burhpam is very pretty with well kept country gardens. There is some climbing but if you go up you have to come back down! This is a country road walk, the road is mainly tarmac which makes it easy underfoot. You will need your paws on the poles.
