Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, and related to bowls and pétanque. The name "boccia" is derived from the Latin word for "boss" – bottia. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels, by athletes with severe physical disabilities.
Our aim is to encourage and promote sport to people with a disability to enable them to be physically active. Our sessions are led by enthusiastic and fully qualified coaches who will ensure that the participants have a great time and have an opportunity to to try a range of activities.
A welcoming, gentle and relaxed experience in the pool. Great for people who are simply wanting a quieter low key session to enjoy swimming.
Three one hour lessons spread over 2 weeks starting on Friday 21 November. Please be available to attend on 21 and 28 November at 12:30hrs. The one-off payment is for both lessons. Poles are provided or you may use your own. The minimum fitness requirement is being able to walk 2 miles comfortably within one hour. Not sure if Nordic Walking is for you? Falls are not an inevitable part of getting older and the good news is, falls can often be prevented. Steady and Strong classes for older adults have been developed by experts to increase your strength and balance, helping you to stay stronger for longer and able to keep doing the things you love. You will do a mix of seated and standing exercises, with chair support for those who need it.
Sports For confidence Boccia – (Floor bowls) is a sport where players try to roll their ball (called a bowl) closest to a smaller ball (known as a “jack” or sometimes a “kitty”). The bowls are intentionally heavier on one side so that they turn when being rolled. The game can be played either in teams or one-on-one.
