Cub of the Year 2024 Presentation

We were delighted to present Disability Snowsport UK with their award for the Every Body Moves powered by Toyota Club of the Year for 2024 this week during a special event at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead.
This prestigious award was presented by Toyota ambassador Billy Monger, recognising Disability Snowsport UK’s outstanding commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring disabled people can experience the joy of snow sports in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
With exactly one year to go until the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, this is a fitting moment to celebrate the impact of Disability Snowsport UK in providing opportunities for disabled people to take to the slopes. Their work not only provides space for people who may go on to aspire to be our future Paralympians, but also ensures that snow sports are accessible to all for the social benefits and friendships often made in the welcoming snow sports community.
Throughout 2024, Every Body Moves has shone a spotlight on organisations making a real impact in inclusive sport and physical activity. Disability Snowsport UK, our November Club of the Month, stood out for its dedication to ensuring that disabled people of all ages and abilities can participate on the slopes. Their work aligns perfectly with Every Body Moves’ goals to empower more disabled people to be active in a way that works for them, celebrating choice, independence, and inclusion.
With over 40 years of experience, Disability Snowsport UK operates across multiple locations in the UK, including Hemel Hempstead where the award presentation took place, Manchester, Tamworth, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
Through expert instruction and specialist adaptive equipment, they enable disabled people to ski and snowboard with confidence, fostering a strong community that shares the thrill of the slopes.
Virginia Anderson, CEO of Disability Snowsport UK, expressed her delight at receiving the award, emphasising the power of snow sports to create freedom, build confidence, and provide life-changing experiences for disabled people. She also highlighted the incredible commitment of Disability Snowsport UK’s instructors and volunteers, whose passion and expertise make every session possible.
Andrew Haugen, participant with DSUK, told us:
"I think it's well deserved, I do. I think what they (DSUK) do as a club for adaptive skiers is beyond the pale, its fantastic, and I'm really proud to be a member of them."
Alongside celebrating Disability Snowsport UK’s achievements, we were also thrilled to acknowledge Ability Tennis who were our March Club of the Month winner back in 2024. Their commitment to making tennis more inclusive earned them the People’s Choice award, a reflection of the community’s recognition and appreciation for their work.
Ben Howarth from Ability Tennis said. “For many players, the sessions are about so much more than just tennis. It’s about building confidence, forming friendships, and knowing there’s a place where you’re fully included. That sense of community is what makes it so powerful. So to be recognised as the people’s choice award by Every Body Moves is fantastic for everybody involved.”
Every Body Moves powered by Toyota continues to champion inclusive opportunities for disabled people to be active, showcasing organisations like Disability Snowsport UK and Ability Tennis that are making a real difference. Their work reminds us that sport and physical activity should be welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for everybody.
As we reflect on another fantastic year of inclusive sport, we want to take a moment to celebrate all of our Club of the Month winners. From Disability Snowsport UK and Ability Tennis to every organisation that has been recognised throughout the year, each has played a vital role in making sport more inclusive and accessible for disabled people. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to breaking down barriers is outstanding, and we look forward to continuing to support and champion these incredible clubs in the months and years ahead.
