This is an Intermediate/Gear 2 walk (the distance is greater than a Gear 1/Intermediate walk) of approximately 4 miles with a couple of different options according to the ground conditions. Maybe one or two short steep ramps and some longer hills can be included depending on sign ups, but as a rule the walk includes gentle inclines and hard tracks through woods. Level 2: Up to 3 miles, tracks and some hills or moderate pace. Intermediate walks, ideal for those looking to develop their walking fitness and able to complete 45-60 mins with minimal stops. Under 18’s may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Starting out from the car park opposite the Harrogate Squash & Fitness Centre, the route heads across the old golf course, then passes the viaduct towards Rudding Lane and returns across fields via Harrogate Ringway. The route then comes back up across the old golf course, follows the trail through Hookstone Wood, passes the lake and returns to the car park.
